Lily Bondragon’s archaeologist father, Hugo, is obsessed with uncovering the secret of Roanoke, the famous lost English colony in Virginia, America. When Lily accompanies him on a dig, Hugo tells her how the entire colony, over one hundred people, vanished in 1590. The only clue to their disappearance was the word CROATOAN carved into the fort’s gatepost. Then Hugo himself mysteriously vanishes, and it is up to Lily to uncover the strange happenings of Roanoke and find her father.
